A little horror history: I love horror, any and all horror, always have, although I hate most recent remakes and the pg 13-superfluous use of CGI-hardly creepy shit that the middle schoolers rave about. I've always been big on gore, and anything graphic and up close. Slashers really are the best, but there's nothing like a good old Black and White. The twenties into he thirties and the seventies into the eighties really were the best years horror has ever seen. I recently discovered silent horror, and now I can't get enough. It's just so hard to find. Some of my favorite horror directors are Eli Roth, Takashi Miike (Asian extreme cinema really is some good stuff), George Romero, David Lynch (well, sortof), Peter Jackson, and Lucio Fulci. If you want some good zombies, Fulci's films really are the ones to go for. His zombies are the best: rotting flesh, covered with maggots, and the gore effects are old, but phenomenal. I can go on. Admittedly, there is a lot I haven't seen, and I'm working on that.
FUCLI LIVES!!
Favorite Scary Movies: Not in any particular order: SILENTS: Nosferatu, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde (amazing!!), Metropolis, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (amazing as well!!), Phantom of the Opera, Un Chien Andalou. B&W (30's-/60's):FREAKS, The Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mummy (<---I have the Legacy collection to all of these), The Bride of Frankenstein, White Zombie, The Raven, Night of the Living Dead, Psycho, House on Haunted Hill, The Bat, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, The Mystery of the Wax Museum, House of Wax, King Kong, Horror Hotel. SPLATTER (and anything else that can be considered so):Halloween (the first only), Friday the 13th (1 & 2), April Fools Day, Mothers Day, Death Proof, CREEPSHOW, Graveyard Shift, Tales from the Darkside, Color Me Blood Read, Bad Taste, Blood Feast, I Spit on your Grave (aka Day of the Woman-several rape scenes and lotsa blood!), Eraserhead (I love David Lynch!), American Werewolf in London, 28 Days Later, SAW I-III, Evil Dead 1 & 2, Army of Darkness, Carrie, The Exorcist, Jeepers Creepers (although the director's a kiddy toucher), Misery, Motel Hell (so bad but so good!), Hellraiser, the Hitcher (1986), Prom Night, Seven, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, TCM: The Beginning, They Live, the Thing, When a Stranger Calls (1979), Cabin Fever, Hostel 1 & 2. ASIAN:Audition, Ichi the Killer, Versus, Evil Dead Trap, Oldboy, Imprint.
Favorite Scary Story/Novels: Struwwelpeter is the best book in the world, and I loooove Grimms Fairy Tales. They're so violent, and useful.
Phobias (what makes me scream): I never really scream, I just say "Wow!" really loud. Anything involving Leeches makes me shudder, and I literally can't look at them, on screen or whathaveyou. I can't handle them, and my friends think it's funny, so they taunt me with pictures of them on MySpace. Maybe that's why I can't watch Puppet Master.
Something scary: I'm scary. Below is a picture of me, and in the cut is what I do as a hobby. Maybe I'll make money off of them someday, or maybe I'll graduate onto to bigger and better things (and no, I don't mean murder).
